Dedication
“For those who taught us that cities are living things, and for the generations who will inherit the consequences of what we build today.”
To my family, Who crossed borders so I could cross disciplines
To Claire Ironside, Angela Larocci, James March, and Renée Alleynn: The faculty who guided me through four years
To the 2026 cohort, Who lived through this with me, draft after draft, crit after crit
To Hamilton: The city that welcomed a kid from Medellín and became the ground for this work
To the Seventh Generation: Those not yet born, whose world we are shaping
“Hamilton 2092 exists because someone, somewhere, believed the future could be different.”
“This work is offered in the spirit of the Seven Generations Principle, making decisions today that will benefit those living seven generations hence. May we be worthy ancestors.”
The Haudenosaunee Confederacy’s governance framework asks decision-makers to consider the impact of their choices on seven generations into the future, roughly 175 years. Hamilton 2092 is set 66 years from now: within the span of the seventh generation from today.
This dedication is not metaphor. It is a design brief.
